The year-round climate of Cochabamba is attractive and mild. However, evenings and mornings are cool. A warm jacket and sweater are often needed during the winter months, June through August. Rainy season is from December through March. |

It is wise to arrive in Cochabamba a few days before classes begin. You will need time to adjust to the altitude of the city which is 2,570 meters or 8,500 feet above sea level.
We recommend the following inoculations before you depart from your home country:
1. Yellow Fever (You must have an official certificate of vaccination)
2. Typhoid
3. Tetanus
4. Hepatitis A and B vaccines
5. Booster Tdap and MMR. Protection against measles,mumps, rubella and tetanus.
Malaria medication is not necessary for Cochabamba.
There are excellent clinics and doctors in Cochabamba that the Center can recommend.

Visa for Non US Citizens
Regulations tend to vary from time to time and from country to country. Those coming from most countries need their passport and tourist card which is given by the airlines on the flight into the country. If you wish, your visa can be renewed here through the Mission Center. You will usually have your passport stamped at the port of entry and marked for 30 days. Depending on your country of origin, you may be charged around $US. 200 to renew your visa for five months.
Visa regulations for US Citizens Staying Less than 90 Days
Visa regulations for people using a U.S. passport have changed since December 1 2007.
It is now necessary that U.S. citizens obtain a Tourist visa which is valid for three entries into Bolivia per year with a limit of 90 days per year. The tourist visa is valid for five years. This visa can be obtained at a Bolivian Consulate in the U.S. or on arrival in Bolivia at the point of entry. Check the Bolivian Consulete Web sites for requirements.
Visa Regulations for U.S. Citizens Satying More than 90 Days:
You must obtain a visa “Objeto Determinado” before arriving in Bolivia. If U.S. citizens do not enter Bolivia with a visa "Objeto Determinado". it is no longer possible for you to change visa status. Once you enter with a visa "Objeto Determinado" you can apply in Bolivia for a year residency. If you are staying in Bolivia more than 90 days, we can supply further information or you can heck the Bolivian consulate Web sites. |
